Steps to make Sambar (easy and quick recipe):
  1. Firstly, boil the dal with 1 tsp turmeric and 1 tsp salt. Once dal is boiled, whisk it lightly and keep aside.
  2. Heat the pan, add 1 tsp oil. Add mastard, fenugreek, red chilli and saute for few seconds. Add chopped onion and saute until light golden. Add tomato, carrot, parwal, kundru, drumstick and saute for few srconds. Add salt, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and saute for few minutes until all veggies are nicely covered with masala.
  3. Now add dal, mix nicely. Add water if required. Add sambar masala, sugar, lemon juice. Cover with lid and keep on low to medium flame for 3-4 minutes to cook.
